CAMP DETAILS

SCHEDULE

California Hockey Academy is designed to maximize player development, focusing on skill improvement, tactical awareness, and comprehensive conditioning both on and off the ice. Our camp offers a structured schedule that emphasizes advanced hockey techniques, physical fitness, and mental toughness. With expert coaching, players will develop the skills they need to excel, from skating and puck control to shooting and game strategy. By combining on-ice drills with off-ice conditioning, we ensure every athlete leaves the camp stronger, faster, and more confident in their abilities.

  • Participants check in and get settled in for the day’s events. This is an opportunity for everyone to prepare mentally and physically for the camp activities ahead.
  • Each day begins with a purposeful warm-up, designed to get players physically and mentally prepared for the training ahead. This session focuses on activating key muscle groups and enhancing flexibility, mobility, and mental focus, setting the tone for the day’s activities.
  • The first on-ice session of the day, focusing on skill development through drills. Coaches guide participants through drills designed to enhance their performance.
  • This session combines targeted strength training and conditioning exercises aimed at increasing power, agility, and endurance. We focus on exercises that are specifically beneficial for female hockey players, such as explosive movements for puck handling, skating power, and body positioning. Our goal is to develop a strong, injury-resistant body while boosting athletic confidence.
  • A break for participants to refuel and relax, with time to enjoy a meal, socialize, and recharge before the afternoon activities begin. During this time, players will review video footage from earlier sessions, allowing them to analyze their performance, ask questions, and receive valuable feedback from coaches to help improve their game.

A second on-ice session, building on the skills practiced in the first session. This will include more advanced drills, situations and games.

  • In this session, we ramp up the intensity with hockey-specific drills that hone both individual skills and team-based tactics. Expect high-intensity interval training (HIIT) to improve cardiovascular endurance, skating speed, and puck control under pressure. We’ll also cover stickhandling, passing accuracy, and shooting mechanics—focusing on precision and speed for game situations.
  • After a full day of intense training, we close with a calming wind-down session focused on both physical and mental recovery. This time is designed to help reduce muscle tension, promote relaxation, and aid in flexibility. Players will engage in gentle stretching, breathwork, and guided meditation to release any built-up stress, improve recovery, and enhance mental clarity. The goal is to reset the body and mind, so you feel refreshed, focused, and ready to tackle the next challenge with a clear, confident mindset. This session also helps prevent injury by promoting recovery and mindfulness, ensuring players leave feeling balanced and rejuvenated.

The official end of the camp day, where participants gather their belongings and head home after a full day of training, learning, and development.
